Dear Finn Families

We had a very busy week this week.

Our youngest learners had a fantastic week filled with creativity, curiosity, and connection! In Preschool, students explored what it means to be a good friend through stories like The Little Red Hen Makes a Pizza and Matthew and Tilly. They practiced letters Hh, Tt, and Ii, learned about words and letters with Little Bo Peep, and developed counting skills through one-to-one correspondence. The new grocery store dramatic play center sparked wonderful imagination and teamwork, while at home, families are encouraged to talk about kindness and inclusion through simple role-play and drawing activities.

In Kindergarten, our readers and writers continued their study of Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, illustrating scenes, matching capital and lowercase letters, and learning new handwriting patterns. In math, students built number stairs to show the patterns of one more and one less, and they’re now moving into exploring 2D and 3D shapes. During social-emotional learning, we discussed how to be “flexible thinkers,” learning to adapt and manage emotions with calm breathing—skills that help us bounce back when things don’t go our way.

And our Grade 1 students had an exciting week filled with reading, writing, math, and science! They learned the Doubling Rule (for f, l, s, and z), practiced the new Red Word “you,” and completed a written retelling of Green Eggs and Ham. In math, they solved story problems with unknown numbers and used number paths to model addition and subtraction. Science lessons focused on sound and echolocation—highlighted by a special “Bat Day” where students learned fascinating facts about bats, explored vibrations, and compared fiction and nonfiction texts.

As the weather turns chilly, please remember to send your child to school with a jacket, and don’t forget to sign up for Parent-Teacher Conferences.

Next week also brings the final days of our Rainbowraiser Fundraiser (and I will be dressing up in a Unicorn Costume in the morning and at the actual event), and we’re so grateful for the strong community support!

Please check out the photos from this week and from our dress up day today.

Thank you, as always, for your support. And enjoy the weekend.

Students Purchasing just Milk

Dear Finn Families,

Beginning Monday, all students will need to bring their lunch tags (something we provide them in order to receive a school lunch and school milk) to the cafeteria each day.

We’ve recently noticed an increase in students who bring lunch from home but would like to purchase milk, but do not have a MySchoolBucks account. As a reminder, school lunch is free for all students. However, when a student brings lunch from home and only needs milk, the cost (.60) must be charged through a MySchoolBucks account. Link here: My School Bucks.

If your child brings lunch from home and plans to get milk from school, please ensure that a MySchoolBucks account has been created for them. Each student’s lunch tag will be scanned when milk is taken, and the account will be billed accordingly.

Families without an active account will receive a notice from our office regarding any outstanding balance.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions
