Dear Finn Families

As we move closer to our Thanksgiving break, our students have been exploring the meaning and history behind this important time of year.

Across Preschool, Kindergarten, and Grade 1, children are learning about Indigenous people and early settlers in the United States, the origins of Thanksgiving, and—most importantly—what gratitude looks like in their own lives. These conversations have sparked thoughtful reflections, big questions, and lots of sweet “I’m thankful for…” moments that remind us how special our school community truly is.

Next week, we will follow a regular full-day schedule on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday, we shift to an early release day:
  • Preschool dismisses at 11:00 AM
  • Kindergarten & Grade 1 dismiss at 12:20 PM

We also enjoyed a joyful whole-school assembly this week, made possible by the generosity of Finn SOS. Our guest, Amy Benford—a former Technology Teacher at both Finn and Woodward—shared her new children’s book, Oh, No Tillie!, inspired by her mischievous labradoodle. Students loved hearing about Tillie’s adventures and learning how Amy followed her passion to become a children’s author (see photos below).

The laughter, curiosity, and sense of wonder in the room were a perfect reminder of why these community moments matter.

Enjoy the weekend!
