Dear Finn Families

Our district’s recent Math Night highlighted how we are helping our students build deep, confident understanding in mathematics through Eureka Math².
The presentation, also linked below, showcased how students can build math fluency, explore new ideas through hands-on models and discussion, and debrief learning together.
The presentation also showcased the importance of students developing both the “why” and the “how” of math—strengthening problem-solving skills, flexibility in thinking, and a positive math mindset.
Research shows that when students understand concepts deeply, they feel more confident, make stronger connections, and experience less math anxiety over time.

How to Help Students Develop Deep Understanding of Math Concepts

Also, please check out the information below from our Winter Fire Safety presentation put on by Southborough Fire Department and organized by Mrs. Frutman.

In all of the student presentations the Fire Dept Staff did a quick quiz about calling 911, smoke detectors, and other things related to safety and our students ACED the quiz, including our Preschoolers.

Enjoy the weekend.

Southborough Winter Fire Safety

A BIG Thank you to Trish Frutman, our School Nurse, for arranging the Southborough Fire Department to present to our students about the importance of Winter Safety.

Students learned practical, age-appropriate tips to stay safe during the colder months—everything from keeping a safe distance from space heaters, open flames, and candles to knowing what to do if they ever hear a smoke alarm at home, and the dangers of thin ice. It was extremely thorough and comprehensive.

The firefighters did a wonderful job making safety feel empowering rather than scary, and our students asked thoughtful questions that showed just how much they were learning.

As always, we’re grateful for the strong partnership we share with our fire department and for the opportunity to build these lifelong safety habits early.

We encourage families to take a few minutes at home to review your own fire safety routines—things like checking smoke detectors, talking about a family meeting spot, and practicing “stay low and go” and "stop-drop-and-roll."

Keep your trees watered and your plugs safe.
