Mary Finn School Update week ending Friday, February 6th, 2026

Main entrance

Dear Finn Families

It’s been another bust week at the Finn School. We were so fortunate the weather allowed us to go outside for recess and to explore the snow.

And speaking of snow, students have been conducting experiments and activities with snow- seeing how fast snow melts, making their own snowflakes-crystals, and many other cool things.

All throughout February, Finn students are recognizing Black History Month by learning about the many significant contributions Black inventors, leaders, artists, and innovators have made to our country. Across our classrooms, our students have been engaging in age-appropriate discussions, read-alouds, and activities that highlight perseverance, creativity, and impact.

One notable figure students are learning about is an American inventor whose curiosity and determination led to innovations that continue to influence our daily lives- Garrett Augustus Morgan, Sr. Among his many contributions was the three-position traffic signal—an advancement that significantly improved roadway safety and laid the groundwork for modern traffic systems. Morgan’s work is a powerful example of how ingenuity and problem-solving can make communities safer and more connected.

We are proud to help all of our students recognize these important stories and to encourage appreciation for the diverse individuals whose ideas have shaped our world in a positive manner.

Please check out the information that follows including the Reauthorization of the District’s Strategic Plan: Vision 2026. Our Fundraiser to support those struggling with homelessness, And the Algonquin Community Connection: ARHS Gift Card Fundraiser.

Enjoy the weekend and GO PATS!!

Reauthorization of the NSboro Strategic Plan

The Public Schools of Northborough and Southborough is reauthorizing its Strategic Plan, Vision 2026: Educate, Inspire, and Challenge. First approved in the spring of 2021, this plan has guided the District’s priorities and actions over the past several years. As we look ahead, it is time to chart the course for the next six years - and we invite our community to help shape that future.

This fall and winter, the District is collecting input from students, families, staff, and community members through multiple avenues, including a community-wide survey. The survey mirrors the January 2021 version, allowing comparison of new feedback with the original baseline data. These insights will inform the goals, priorities, and key actions that will define the next phase of the District’s Strategic Plan.

Your participation in the survey is greatly appreciated. Survey Link
