Dear Finn Families,
As spring approaches, we turn our focus to preparing for the next school year. One important task for our administration and staff is developing class lists—a process that requires thoughtful collaboration and careful consideration. Your child’s classroom teacher, special educators, special area teachers, student support staff, and administrators all dedicate significant time and effort to ensuring the best possible placement for each student.
When grouping students for the next academic year, we carefully consider many factors to create balanced classes. Our classroom teachers and support staff work together to form groups of students that are balanced with respect to educational, social, and emotional needs. We also work to achieve an equitable teacher-to-student ratio and a balanced student population in each classroom whenever possible.
The administration and teachers who work with your child determine next year’s class placement. Please be assured that your child’s teacher has a clear understanding of your child’s needs, learning style, and social and emotional growth. This information, coupled with our thoughtful placement process, yield classrooms that are well-balanced and designed to support the needs of each learner.
We do not accept letters regarding specific requests for teachers or student placements. However, if you have a sensitive or specific concern that you would like to share, please contact either our School Psychologist, Cathy Wilson, or our Behavior Specialist, Emily Silva, by Friday, April 10th, 2026. We will use the information you provide to assist in the placement process.
As we have a large student body in each grade, and because of the complex process used in developing balanced classes, your child’s placement will be considered final.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Clayton T. Ryan, Principal
