It has been another exciting and engaging week at the Mary Finn School filled with meaningful learning experiences, school-wide activities, creativity, and community building.
One of the highlights of the week was a special whole-school assembly featuring the hip hop dance company Trend N Motion and their energetic Animal Kingdom presentation. Students had fun time learning fun and fascinating animal facts while participating in interactive dances inspired by animal movements. The program combined movement, music, nature, and learning in a way that had all of our students smiling, and laughing.
And speaking of “Animals,” Grade 1 had a wonderful and memorable field trip to Davis Farmland in Sterling, where students learned about farm animals, agriculture, and conservation in a real working farm setting. During their visit, students had the opportunity to interact with and feed a variety of animals, explore the farm, and learn firsthand how farmers care for animals and the environment. Grade 1 Teachers will send some photos.
As Memorial Day approaches, classrooms across Finn also spent time learning about the importance and meaning of the holiday. Students explored the significance of honoring and remembering the brave men and women who have served our country. These conversations helped students build understanding around patriotism, gratitude, and service to others in age-appropriate and meaningful ways.
In Grade 1, students extended their learning by creating beautiful projects focused on American symbols, proudly showcasing their creativity while learning about important national symbols and traditions. Please check out the photos below.
We hope everyone enjoys a safe and relaxing Memorial Day weekend with family and friends and take a moment to remember those who served our country.
Enjoy the weekend.
